Ekurhuleni Basketball Association (EBA) is an authorised body corporate mandated to control, facilitate and coordinate basketball and basketball activities within the geo-political boundaries of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (City of Ekurhuleni).
EBA is a recognised member of the Gauteng Basketball Association (GBA) and the Ekurhuleni Sport Confederation (ESC). EBA is also registered as a Non-Profit Organisation under the NPO framework of the Republic of South Africa.
EBA continues in playing a pivotal role in the development and governance of Gauteng Basketball. Good governance in Gauteng will ensure the long-term development of basketball in the country. As EBA we endeavor to be in the forefront, ascertaining that governance and compliance is adhered to for the wellbeing of the sport and promotion of the sport to all current stakeholders and future stakeholders.
To develop the sport of basketball and foster a greater interest in the sport as a viable alternative recreational activity for the youth and the community at large.
We aim to make the game of basketball the sport of choice in Ekurhuleni. To produce basketball talent that will represent the region and the country at a high-performance level. To advance the commercial opportunities of the sport, driving alternative possibilities in career paths and broaden economic opportunities within Ekurhuleni.
At the Ekurhuleni Basketball Association, our aim is to grow the sport of basketball while building a strong, inclusive community. We are committed to developing players of all ages, fostering teamwork and sportsmanship, and providing opportunities for both personal and athletic growth. Through organized programs, outreach initiatives, and competitive play, we aim to inspire a passion for basketball and positively impact our local community.
To organise and coordinate basketball activities in and around the City of Ekurhuleni.
To control, integrate and foster participation at all levels of Basketball in Ekurhuleni.
To foster basketball development and participation.
To participate successfully in provincial and / or other Basketball competitions.
To promote recognition of Basketball as a leading participative and spectator sport.
To encourage the provision of appropriate facilities for participation in basketball.
To foster and develop a democratic, non-racial, and non-sexist structures in all organizations which may seek and obtain affiliation to Gauteng Basketball Association.
To develop and maintain cordial relations with the Department of Sports and Recreation.
To establish and maintain cordial relations with other sporting bodies.
To act in the interest of sport, and basketball in particular.
